HEALTHY SCHOOL COMMUNITIES - Administrative Procedure 241

One of our goals at Routhier School is to promote and model healthy choices in all aspects of our school programs. There are many opportunities to model healthy choices in our hot lunches, special occasions like birthdays, and holidays. Our school has made the shift to healthier choices, and moved towards healthier foods to follow our Healthy School Communities (Admin Procedure 241).

Listed below are a few ideas for alternatives to help us in meeting this goal:

Fruit Salad

Fruit tray or cups

Cheese and fruit kabob

Yogurt dip or tubes

Veggies and dip

Berries

Watermelon

Pineapple

Cheese and crackers

Granola bars

Popcorn

Frozen grapes or oranges

Pita chips and salsa

As per Admin  Procedure 241, Staff have chosen the following 4 days to select from the ‘Choose Least Often’ choices:

·         Christmas (December 20)

·         Carnaval/Winter Fun Day (February 12)

·         Easter (April 9)

·         End of year (June 24)

Teachers will provide information to parents regarding these 4 days.

We are asking for your continued support and cooperation with our goal of modeling and promoting healthy choices. If you would like to bring a treat for your child’s class, please contact the teacher in advance to discuss healthy choices available. We greatly appreciate your help.
